Saturday May 20th at The Chicago Market. Friends of Uplift will hosted a Parent Mixer Celebration! We celebrated with food, music, wine and lots of fun!
We are extremely grateful that Chicago Public Schools (CPS) is applying to use available Wilson Corridor TIF funds to enhance the exterior of Uplift Community High School located at 900 W Wilson Ave. We truly appreciate the investment in our local Uptown high school and the Wilson Avenue Corridor.
As a community, we are asking CPS to ensure that enough funding is requested and allocated to address the following items, which are already included in current architectural proposals. These items are important to us as a community because they will increase public safety, improve traffic flow on Wilson Avenue, add a community gathering space, show care for the environment, and enhance aesthetics.
We have been working with Uptown United, the alderman's office and Friends of Uplift to think about ways to improve Uplift's presence in the community and reflect our new Early College focus. As a result of these discussions, three proposals have been developed that have been submitted to CPS for consideration and funding. While funding is not yet secured for any of these projects, we wanted to extend an opportunity to the greater community to lend your voice and provide feedback on the presence of Uplift along Wilson Avenue. This feedback will be used to further refine any proposal that may be ultimately approved (all proposals will need additional refinement) and/or guide discussions about how Uplift may better position its presence in the community. Please view the proposed options and provide feedback
